"Must... fight... temptation.... to read... brilliant andinteresting stuff from C. J. S. Hayward.... until.... after...work!"
-Kent Nebergall

About this book

This book represents the flagship of C. J. S. Hayward's whole collection of collections. It brings together, between two covers, the top 10% or so of Hayward's works, and brings together, between two covers, the very best that he has to offer in Orthodox theology. The works are independent, meaning that they can be read in almost any fashion: cover to cover, or briefly sampled from time to time, or whatever your interests and schedule call for.

Fans of Orthodox theology, and fans of the C. S. Lewis who first shaped him as an author, will love this collection.

About the author

C. J. S. Hayward is an Eastern Orthodox author and Renaissance man. Heholds master's degrees bridging math and computers (UIUC) and theology(Cambridge), with postgraduate coursework in theology, philosophy, logic, mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, anthropology, linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, history, medieval studies, and a partridge in a pear tree.

All of this sounds very fancy when it's written out. It collapses intogood writing with an apologetics where ordinary people can take away asmuch as they are ready for.

What people are saying about this author's works

"Overall, I enjoyed the book, particularly because of the author's downto earth approach. While he makes some excellent points, he does so ina way that's easily understandable."

-Majanka, Amazon

"Each piece is a delight: partially because each 'speaks' using adifferent voice and partially because a diversity of topics andcross-connections between theology and everyday living makes the entirecollection a delight to read, packed with unexpected twists, turns, andintellectual challenges.

"Fans of C. S. Lewis and similar Christian thinkers will findThe Best of Jonathan's Corner an absolute delight."

-Diane Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

"When I read C. S. Lewis, A. W. Tozer, or G. K. Chesterton, there is adeep ache for both the times and the men that made honor, wisdom, andclarity a thing of such beauty and strength. We wonder what they wouldsay of our time, and why, with so many more people and bettercommunication, we don't see more of them.

"Hayward is such a person of wisdom and depth. I do not say thislightly or flatteringly. He and I don't agree on everything, but whenwe contrast, it will never be his side of the issue that is lacking indepth, beauty, or elegance. He's Orthodox, yes (I'm not). But I suspectall sides will claim him as they do Lewis and Chesterton."

-Kent Nebergall, Amazon

"The Sign of the Grail is a unique, scholarly, and thorough examinationof the Grail mythos, granting it a top recommendation for academia andthe non-specialist reader with an interest in these subjects. Also veryhighly recommended for personal, academic, and community librarycollections are C. J. S. Hayward's other deftly written and originalliterary works, essays, and commentaries, compilations and anthologies: Yonder, Firestorm 2034, A Cord of Seven Strands, The Steel Orb, TheChristmas Tales, and Hayward's Unabridged Dictionary [the other sixHayward titles then in print]."

-John Burroughs, Midwest Book Review
