Second Chance: a Story to Make You Think About What You Think

Second Chance is a fictional story (based on the author?s actual experiences) about Arjuna?s quest to find meaning to his life. The story begins with Arjuna, a successful corporate executive, living in London who has recently separated from his wife. Arjuna is haunted by a recurring nightmare. In a desire to understand his nightmare and stop it from reoccurring he goes into psychotherapy. The therapy throws up more questions than answers. Arjuna hopes that if there is a God, then that God would give him the answers to his problems and life purpose. Arjuna reasons that God is spirit and if he is contactable, he would be where there is a lot of spiritual activity. Arjuna determines that this is in India. As Arjuna journeys across India he meets with many people and gurus of different religions, having many spiritual encounters on the way. Arjuna engages into a Socratic dialogue with everyone that he meets, through which Arjuna increases in his understanding of not only the theological, but also the experiential aspects of their beliefs. Each of us, usually at a subconscious level, has answers to a number of fundamental questions such as: What happens when I die? What should I do to be happy? What is the purpose of life? Is there such a thing as universal truth? Is there some kind of spiritual entity that somehow influences my life? The answers to these questions, collectively known as our worldview determine how we process what is happening in our lives and determine what action if any, we should take. Therefore, our worldview is a fundamental determinant of our behavior as we respond to the actions of others. As you read Second Chance you will journey with Arjuna; your worldview will move from your subconscious to your conscious realm of thought, becoming clearer, as will your awareness and understanding of other worldviews. Perhaps, as we become aware of our own worldview, and increase in our understanding of others? worldviews then we will become better people; potentially more loving, and more understanding of each other irrespective of our individual belief systems. Join Arjuna in this journey of self discovery!
